Our client, a private equity firm, was considering a position in an underperforming marketing services provider. The target company had been a pioneer in its field, bringing disruptive technology to a previously staid industry. But in recent years the company suffered from aggressive competition, lack of innovation and high management churn. A strategy of regular acquisitions could no longer offset declines in the base business. We served as partners in due diligence, complementing our client's financial expertise with a review of the company from an operating perspective.
